The Spring waiver period is 11/20/17 – 01/25/2018.

The Summer waiver period is 05/01/18 – 07/09/2018.

Please carefully read the description associated with each option below to ensure that you make the appropriate selection.

Fall 2017 – This option is for new and continuing students enrolled in fall classes who have been charged for SAIC’s student health insurance plan.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS WAIVER

All full-time domestic students are automatically enrolled in SAIC’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). The insurance fee will appear on students’ accounts as an additional charge, separate from tuition and other fees. If students have alternative health insurance coverage, a waiver may be submitted.

To be eligible for a waiver of enrollment in the SHIP, SAIC requires that students provide evidence of coverage equal to or better than the coverage provided by SAIC’s SHIP. Please be advised that the waiver request will be reviewed and verified active with the insurance carrier. Notification of acceptance or rejection of waiver requests will be sent to students’ SAIC email addresses within seven business days.

To qualify for a waiver, your health insurance plan must meet the requirements as listed below.

1.    Coverage must be active for the full date range associated with the term(s) for which a waiver is being requested.

2.    Have equivalent coverage, in the Chicago area, to the SAIC’s Student Health Insurance plan including, but not limited to:

a.    Full coverage for pre-existing conditions;

b.    Covers 100% of preventive care;

c.    Unlimited benefits;

d.    And be Affordable Care Act (PPACA) compliant

If your plan meets the above criteria and you want to waive enrollment from the Student Health Insurance Plan, please acquire an electronic copy of the front and back of your insurance ID card and then select the link below to submit your waiver request. Once you login, select the RED button under the “No, I do not want the insurance.” section.
